What’s your story?

What’s your story?

You know, the one you keep carrying around with you that informs all your decisions.

The one that may be holding you back.

The story that says, “I’m not good enough”.

The story that says “I’m too old”.

“No one ever likes me.”

“I’ll never find the right relationship”.

The story that “it’s not my fault”.

How are those stories working for you?

In Budokon, we talk a lot about our stories.  We are not all physical practice – we are a life science; a living art-form.  We are committed to doing the really hard work of looking at our stuff.  More so, we are committed to holding a space for our fellow ninjas to do the same.  Because we want to make a difference.  We want to embrace extraordinary living.

Every time we come to our mat that is what we are working on – unraveling our stories.  We know that the way we do anything is the way we do everything, so we look for the ways that our stories show up on the mat.  Going into a transition too fast, not trying our best, making excuses or maybe the opposite going too hard and not knowing when to stop.  Our mat is our mirror – our window into our personality and character.  We are scientists on a very important exploratory mission, and the stakes are pretty high.  Those stakes are not our next handstand or back bend.  The stakes are more like how are we going to handle our next challenge?  Are we able to be counted on by the people who need us to be there?

And if we do fall short, and we just might, how are we going to let that just be a reset and not a regress?

Your yoga practice can teach you a lot about your story.  You just have to be willing to start.

You can find Budokon Yoga on the schedule at BPY – Monday nights at 6:45 pm and Wednesday nights at 8:15 pm for 75 minute classes.  Starting in October, Budokon Yoga will be held on Tuesday mornings at 9:30 am for 60 minutes
