What Is Yoga Nidra?
Divine Sleep Yoga Nidra® is a guided meditation that systematically guides and relaxes you at every level of your being through the use of breath awareness, body scanning, healing music, & nature imagery. This is true meditation. There is nothing to do but “notice” – feeling supported and empowered just as your are. Jennifer Reis is the creator of Divine Sleep Yoga Nidra and will be bringing a training to Balanced Planet Yoga in November 2019.
What are the benefits?
Yoga Nidra helps to alleviate anxiety, depression, insomnia, high blood pressure, addiction, aggression, ADHD, PTSD, and chronic pain. Through this practice you will learn how to integrate meditation as daily routine – the key to awareness and happiness!
How does it work?
Yoga Nidra turns off our “fight or flight” switch and turns on our “relaxation response” – the body’s natural healing state. Your body knows exactly what to do to attain and maintain perfect health and equilibrium, but it is necessary to go into this deep states of relaxation for healing to happen.
What to expect:
Class will begin with a 30 minute moving meditation. Students will then lay onto their mats with any props that make the body feel supported and warm. The teacher will spend the remaining 30 minutes guiding the students thru an 8 stage script that works deep into the layers of your being.
There is no way to do Divine Sleep Yoga Nidra wrong!! Simply lie down, close the eyes, and listen without trying to hard. If you fall asleep your inner consciousness is still receiving all of the information – you will be awake and aware, hearing only what you need in that moment.
What to bring:
- Yoga Mat
- Pillow and/or blanket
- Eye Pillow (optional)
