What the heck is Circular Fashion?

    October 3, 2022 /

And what do clothing swaps have to do with it? To understand circular fashion, you must first understand the term “fast fashion”. Fast fashion refers to a sector of fashion whose business model relies on the rapid design, production, distribution of clothing. This allows retailers to produce large quantities of a wide variety of clothing at a low price to consumers. For the individual customer, this makes snatching up the latest trends easier and more affordable, rather than splurging on the more expensive item. However, therein lies the problem. Consumers are purchasing more clothing than ever due to its poor quality. This cycle of buying and discarding has created a huge…

ORA Cacao – Moving from Routine to Ritual

    September 30, 2022 /

Introducing the practice of Cacao preparation and drinking into yourself self-care routine can become an important ritual to keep you centered, connected to your heart, and living life in a good way. Recently, Heather shared with us her own experience and gave us permission to share it here with all of you! A few days ago, after taking a class at the studio, I decided to try the ORA cacao. All of the choices seemed interesting but when I picked up the Mystical Mushroom, it just felt right. My intuition told me this is the one I needed. Most days after lunch, I take 10 minutes to sip a cup…

    Rhodonite to the Rescue

    August 30, 2022 /

Ahhh, so we meet again my crystal enthusiasts! Today we’re going to touch on another crystal that has been called the “rescue crystal”, otherwise known as rhodonite. Physically, this crystal is pink with black veins (manganese oxide) that run through out. Metaphysically, this sublime crystal is known to fill both your heart and soul with love, leaving little space for inner conflict and turmoil. Rhodonite’s energy is also beneficial for balancing emotions while clearing away wounds and scars from your past. This makes it a wonderful companion during inner child work and any time you want to heal matters of the heart. Because rhodonite can absorb negative energy, you’re going to want…

Citrine – Abundance, Prosperity + Positivity

    July 27, 2022 /

If you clicked on this blog, chances are you either always have a crystal on you (like me) or you’re wondering what the big deal is. Regardless of where in your crystal journey you are, this thread will provide a little insight about specific crystals and how to care for them. We’ll kick off our crystal blog with a stone suitable for Leo season as it shines the sunny shade of yellow/orange. CITRINE!! Citrine is a popular type of quartz used to welcome abundance, prosperity, and positivity. We could all use more of that! An interesting fact about citrine is that it transmutes negative energy rather than absorb it, so it doesn’t…

Balanced Planet Yoga is offering its annual high school + college student summer pass. The pass runs from June 1st to August 31st for $250. This gives students three months of unlimited classes to BPY’s regularly scheduled offerings. Not all stress is bad. Eustress (good stress) can boost motivation and decision-making, which are important to achieving education and career goals. But chronic stress that results in longstanding high levels of cortisol circulating in our systems can suppress the immune system and impair brain function. In fact, science has show that chronic stress can actually rewire the brain and disrupt normal development. Yoga and mindfulness have been shown to improve both…

    New Year’s Day at BPY

    December 30, 2021 /

The studio is hosting 3 special classes to kick New Year’s Day of 2022 First up on January 1st is Holly’s 9 am Vinyasa RED class. Instead of setting a resolution for 2022 on New Year’s Day, Holly will focus on setting a drishti. A drishti translates to perception in Sanskrit, and in the practice of yoga we use this term to indicate our gaze point, such as the nose, the brow point or navel. Along with the breath, we focus on these particular points to develop our ability to concentrate. Holly will be expanding upon the concept of a gaze point off the mat asking each student to decide…

    BPY Welcomes Back Drop-Ins

    December 12, 2021 /

It’s been a long strange ride friends. And while not everything has gone back to normal since the start of the pandemic, we are happy to lift the restriction on drop-ins. Students may now attend any class at the studio without first signing into MindBody ahead of time. While we certainly still appreciate anytime you can sign in for class in advance, we once again want to allow students who find themselves able to attend class last minute to drop in. Payment can be made in studio by way of cash or credit card. BPY offers a variety of packages from drop-ins, unlimited passes, and class passes. As a reminder,…
