Not all stress is bad. Eustress (good stress) can boost motivation and decision-making, which are important to achieving education and career goals. But chronic stress that results in longstanding high levels of cortisol circulating in our systems can suppress the immune system and impair brain function. In fact, science has show that chronic stress can actually rewire the brain and disrupt normal development.
Yoga and mindfulness have been shown to improve both physical and mental health in young people. The practice improves balance, strength and endurance. And a growing body of legitimate research is showing the many psychological benefits that come along with a regular yoga practice. Things like improved focus, memory, self-esteem, and improved academic performance are proven benefits.
“You don’t need to be super flexible or strong to practice yoga,” shares studio owner Cheryl Van Sciver. Cheryl goes on to explain, “yoga is a science of learning more about who you really are and how you perceive the world. The asanas (postures) are not the sole focus of a well-rounded yoga practice.” Balanced Planet Yoga offers a wide-range of classes – some beginner and most designed to reach an all-levels audience.
This special pass can be purchased in the studio with your valid student ID. You can also complete the transaction over the telephone (856.316.5150) after submitting your ID to firstname.lastname@example.org. We can’t wait to meet you on the mat!
