New Year’s Day at BPY

The studio is hosting 3 special classes to kick New Year’s Day of 2022

First up on January 1st is Holly’s 9 am Vinyasa RED class. Instead of setting a resolution for 2022 on New Year’s Day, Holly will focus on setting a drishti. A drishti translates to perception in Sanskrit, and in the practice of yoga we use this term to indicate our gaze point, such as the nose, the brow point or navel. Along with the breath, we focus on these particular points to develop our ability to concentrate. Holly will be expanding upon the concept of a gaze point off the mat asking each student to decide what they want to spend the next year looking at and in turn growing. We are powerful thinkers – whatever we put our attention becomes our experience.

Next at 10:30 am, Cheryl hosts our beginners class. BPY is passionate about creating a space that is safe and inviting for people new to the practice. Aside from the great physical benefits that come with the practice, yoga is filled with tools for living skillfully in a busy modern world. Cheryl will lead the class through a slow-paced practice and introduce the concept of a sankalpa. This translates into an intention, vow or heartfelt desire. It is more than a goal of eating healthier or drinking more water. To create the life we most want, we must look to the power of the mind to ingrain our deepest desires time and time again. This is where a carefully crafted sankalpa can be so helpful. Time will be spent creating your personal Sankalpa for 2022 and learning how to implement this practice.

Last up on New Year’s Day is our 12 noon class with Jenna – Recover, Reset + Reflect. Sleep in from your New Year’s Eve festivities and meet up with the BPY community on the first day of 2022! This special class will incorporate journaling, mindfulness and intuitive movement. Jenna will create space for you to reflect on 2021, get clearer on how the lessons of the past can inform your 2022, and seal these intentions off in a physical practice. She has created a very helpful worksheet to fine tune your thinking and get on the path for your best year yet!

All three of these classes are included in your regular membership, class card or can be purchased for a regular drop in rate. We look forward to connecting with you on this auspicious day of new beginnings.
