Beginner’s Yoga Workshop

Balanced Planet Yoga is pleased to present a Beginner’s Yoga Series.

–  Classes will be held on May 2nd, May 9th, and May 16th from 12 noon to 2 PM.

In this three-part Beginner’s Yoga Series, we’ll explore the fundamentals of an Ashtanga-inspired vinyasa yoga practice with a focus on breath (pranayama) and postures (asana). This style of yoga places emphasis on linking the breath to movement into and out of postures with the intention of developing strength, flexibility, and balance within the practitioner. In general, this course is designed for those would like to learn in a friendly, relaxed environment regardless of physical strength or flexibility. Each class will start with a short discussion on various topics followed by a physical practice. Over the course of three weeks, we’ll unravel a typical vinyasa yoga class into manageable segments. The course outline is as follows:

Saturday May 2nd – Week 1: Sun Salutations and Standing Postures

Saturday, May 9th – Week 2: Standing Postures, Seated Postures, and Arm Balancing

Saturday, May 16th – Week 3: Backbends, Inversions, Shavasana

Additional Notes:

Please wear comfortable clothing suitable for exercise.

The room will be heated to 78-80 degrees Fahrenheit.
